David De Loup
Having worked as a groundsman and instructor in horticulture & gardening, then as a self employed landscape gardener and designer, the experience of working with the environment has influenced my use of materials etc. I also gained valuable experience on a stonemasonry course. I then attended art college for three years, first of all at Mid Cheshire College of Art & Design UK on an art foundation course. I then went on to further study at Carmarthenshire College of Technology and Art where I was awarded a Higher National Diploma qualification in Design Crafts-Sculpture Restoration in 1993. During the time at college I was awarded a Licentiaship of the Society of Designer Craftsmen. I entered a sculpture commission for National Westminster Life, Bristol UK which was organised by the Society of British Sculptors. I have made public sculptures for Mencap in a theme walled garden (touch) at Stackpole in Pembrokeshire Wales, and worked with a team of artists in Vejle, Denmark for Dyfed, exhibiting art, sculpture and crafts.
